INNo-CHIP

Cross-border innovation in Organ-on-Chip technology

Progetto cofinanziato dall'Unione Europea nell'ambito del Programma Interreg VI-A Italia-Svizzera 2021-2027. Canton Ticino

Advancing biomedical research through cross-border collaboration

INNo-CHIP is a research and innovation project funded under the Interreg VI-A Italy–Switzerland 2021–2027 Cooperation Programme.

Bringing together research institutions, technology companies and life sciences organisations from South Tyrol and Canton Ticino, the project aims to strengthen biomedical innovation through the development and adoption of advanced Organ-on-Chip (OoC) technologies.

The initiative focuses on developing an innovative OoC prototype, supporting technology transfer and establishing an interregional network connecting research and industry.

Project objectives

Developing new technologies and strengthening biomedical research

INNo-CHIP focuses on three complementary objectives:

  • Organ-on-Chip development: Develop a jointly designed OoC technology prototype to support more human-relevant preclinical research.
  • Technology transfer: Promote knowledge exchange and support the development of innovative biomedical spin-offs.
  • Cross-border cooperation: Strengthen collaboration between research institutions and companies, building a sustainable innovation network between Italy and Switzerland.

Project partners

A multidisciplinary collaboration between research and industry

The project is coordinated by Eurac Research – Institute for Biomedicine (Bolzano), in collaboration with:

  • FEMTOprint SA — Canton Ticino, Switzerland
  • NOI SpA — Bolzano, Italy
  • Associazione Life Sciences Competence Center — Canton Ticino, Switzerland
  • AxCellerate Sagl — Canton Ticino, Switzerland
