Brain-on-Chip technology

Brain-on-Chip technology is an advanced in vitro approach that uses microtechnology and human-derived neuronal models to study key aspects of brain and nervous system biology in a controlled experimental environment.

AxCellerate’s platform enables the culture, imaging and electrophysiological recording of three-dimensional human-derived neuronal models. This allows research teams to observe neuronal activity, network response and compound effects in a more human-relevant experimental setting.

AxCellerate’s technology is designed to complement existing preclinical workflows and support the use of advanced human-relevant in vitro models. It can help reduce reliance on conventional models where advanced in vitro testing adds scientific value, but it does not replace every preclinical method.

AxCellerate combines three-dimensional human-derived neuronal models, microfabricated Brain-on-Chip architecture, glass-based microtechnology and electrophysiological recording capabilities. This combination supports functional analysis of neuronal activity in a more advanced preclinical model.

AxCellerate technology is based on a Brain-on-Chip platform that combines three-dimensional human-derived neuronal models, microtechnology and functional neuronal readouts.

The main benefits include human-relevant modelling, functional analysis of neuronal activity, support for neurotoxicity assessment, disease modelling, compound screening and target validation.

Yes. AxCellerate technology can complement existing preclinical workflows by adding a more advanced and human-relevant layer of evidence.

Preclinical neuroscience services

AxCellerate offers services in Efficacy & Safety Testing, Disease Modelling and Target Validation. These services are designed to support neuroscience drug development, safety assessment, compound screening and translational research.

Efficacy & Safety Testing helps research teams evaluate compound response, safety profiles, potential neurotoxic effects and, when a suitable disease model is available, efficacy-related biological responses in human-relevant neuronal models.

Disease Modelling uses advanced neuronal models to investigate neurological disease mechanisms, disease-related biological responses and compound effects in a more relevant preclinical environment.

Target Validation helps research teams assess whether a potential therapeutic target is biologically relevant, functionally active and suitable for further development in neuroscience drug discovery programs.

Applications

AxCellerate supports neurological drug development by providing human-relevant preclinical models that help research teams evaluate compound response, safety, disease mechanisms and target biology before clinical stages.

Yes. AxCellerate’s Brain-on-Chip platform can support research into neurodegenerative disease mechanisms, neuronal activity, compound response and target validation in advanced human-derived neuronal models.

Patient-specific modelling involves adapting experimental systems around defined biological questions, mutations, disease profiles or patient-related mechanisms. AxCellerate can support these studies when suitable models and project conditions are available.

AxCellerate supports translational research by generating human-relevant preclinical evidence that helps connect experimental findings with biological mechanisms more relevant to human disease.

AxCellerate technology can support neurological drug development, neurotoxicity assessment, neurodegenerative disease models, patient-specific modelling, compound screening and translational research.

Efficacy & Safety Testing

This service is used to evaluate compound response, safety profiles, potential neurotoxic effects and efficacy-related readouts when a suitable disease model is available.

It can generate human-relevant evidence that helps research teams assess potential risks, biological responses and compound effects earlier in development.

Disease modelling

Disease Modelling uses Brain-on-Chip technology and three-dimensional human-derived neuronal models to investigate neurological disease mechanisms.

It can support studies in neurological and neurodegenerative mechanisms, compound response, patient-specific questions and translational neuroscience.

Target validation

AxCellerate helps research teams investigate the biological relevance and functional impact of potential therapeutic targets in human-relevant neuronal models.

Target Validation helps reduce uncertainty before advancing a candidate or research program into more complex and costly development phases.

Pharma and biotech

AxCellerate supports pharma and biotech companies with human-relevant Brain-on-Chip models for compound evaluation, disease modelling, target validation and preclinical safety assessment.

Human-relevant models can help improve the translational value of early evidence and support better-informed decisions before clinical stages.

CROs

AxCellerate can provide specialized Brain-on-Chip capabilities that complement a CRO’s existing preclinical service portfolio.

Yes. AxCellerate can support CROs in neuroscience-focused projects involving safety testing, disease modelling, target validation or translational research
