EUROSTARS NEUROCHIP project
AxCellerate emerged from the EUROSTARS NEUROCHIP project, a European research initiative focused on developing an advanced Brain-on-Chip model for neuroscience drug development.
About AxCellerate
AxCellerate was created to address a critical challenge in neuroscience drug development: the need for preclinical models that can better reflect the complexity of human biology.
Traditional approaches, including conventional 2D cell cultures and animal models, often have limited translational value when applied to complex neurological conditions. This can reduce the predictive power of early-stage studies and increase the risk of late-stage development failures.
AxCellerate provides B2B preclinical research services based on advanced Brain-on-Chip technology, supporting the evaluation of compound safety, toxicity, efficacy, target validation and disease-related mechanisms in human-relevant neuronal models.
Our origin and technology
AxCellerate was born from a strong scientific and technological foundation, developed through the EUROSTARS NEUROCHIP project and the collaboration of specialized European partners.
The EUROSTARS NEUROCHIP project (E!115217) was co-funded by Innosuisse – Swiss Innovation Agency and the European Union.
AxCellerate emerged from the EUROSTARS NEUROCHIP project, a European research initiative focused on developing an advanced Brain-on-Chip model for neuroscience drug development.
The technology builds on the expertise of FEMTOPRINT SA, a Swiss high-tech company specialized in precision glass microfabrication for advanced microdevices.
The platform also benefits from the expertise of NMI Natural and Medical Sciences Institute, with strong experience in microelectrode arrays and innovative in vitro assays for life sciences.
This foundation led to a Brain-on-Chip platform designed to culture, image and record three-dimensional human-derived neuronal models, generating valuable insights into neuronal activity and compound response.
AxCellerate works as a scientific and technological partner for organizations involved in neuroscience research, drug discovery and translational development.
Our platform is designed to help research teams investigate specific biological questions, model neurological conditions, assess neurotoxicity and safety and generate early evidence on the potential effects of new molecules.
By combining human-relevant models, Brain-on-Chip technology and a service-oriented approach, AxCellerate helps clients strengthen preclinical evidence, reduce uncertainty and move forward with greater confidence in neuroscience drug development.
